Information for Families

There have been a lot of changes in the world of the church over the last few months. Some of them have been hard. More screens and less hugs, more online presence and less physical presence. While these things have been tough there is also an amazing opportunity to return the faith formation of children back to the place it has always been, your home! Studies have long shown that the number one indicator of a child's faith into adulthood is the faith of their parents and guardians. Weather you realize it or not, you have always been your child's number one teacher on spiritual matters.

This might seem terrifying, and in some ways it is, but its also super exciting to be able to be the church together even when we are physically apart. The church's job is now to help resource you, the grownups in the lives of your kids, to be the best teachers you can be!

Compassion Camp is a VBS curriculum put out by Illustrated Ministry that offers us a ton of creativity options for how we will run an online, home driven VBS. Here's an overview of what a VBS day could look like.

8:00 am, have breakfast and watch the opening video on the website

10:00 am Bible Story video and imagining and coloring

12:00 pm Lunch and Create & Play (optional and included in the family packet

2:00 pm Movement video

4:00 pm Compassion in Action (optional included in family packet)

8:00 pm Zoom bedtime story, a reading of the day's Bible story on Zoom from the Spark Bible, and a chance for a few kids to share their favorite part of VBS for the day!

The awesome thing about this is you can create the schedule to be whatever you want! Maybe you do it all before lunch, or maybe you do it all in the evening, or maybe its a little too much and you pick and choose the pieces that are right for your family. Its all good at Compassion Camp! We aren't here to play the comparison game, we just want to equip your family to have the best at home VBS experience possible!
